Case Study: SaniClean ICT

SaniClean ICT is proving that small businesses can make a big impact. Despite being in an industry where large laundry operations are prevalent, this small family-owned business has found a way to stand out.

Based in Wichita, Kansas, this family-owned and operated commercial laundry company has built its reputation on trust, reliability, and environmental stewardship.

Founded in 2020, SaniClean serves salons, medical offices, restaurants, and uniform providers — processing over 119,000 pounds of laundry this year alone, with projections to reach 175,000 pounds by year’s end.

But for SaniClean, clean laundry isn’t the only goal. They set about finding packaging solutions that fit their values while keeping operations efficient.

We caught up with Matt Samms, General/Operations Manager of SaniClean to hear their story including what lead to the changes they implemented and the impact it has had on their family’s business.

STANDING OUT WITH SUSTAINABILITY

Before partnering with Felins, SaniClean packaged salon towels by the dozen using plastic wrap. While plastic is a tried-and-true material with important applications in specific use-cases, it wasn’t the ideal fit for SaniClean’s salon towel program. They wanted to explore an option that was more efficient and resource-conscious for this specific application, one that better matched their core values of reliability and environmental stewardship.

A BETTER FIT

Matt first connected with Felins at the Clean Show in Atlanta. After learning about Felins’ PakTyer 2000, he quickly saw the potential for change. Instead of using plastic, the PakTyer uses twine to bundle laundry securely.

“We weren’t sure if our customers would like twine wrapped bundles over the plastic wrapped bundles,” Matt admits, “but they were incredibly well received, and people appreciated our dedication to reduce our environmental impact in terms of plastic usage.”

The decision to purchase a Felins PakTyer machine yielded impressive results, with significant benefits brought on almost immediately after the machine’s plug-and-play implementation.

  • Reduced reliance on plastic wrap by over 99% (of packaged items by weight)
  • Material costs decreased from $120 per week to $120 per year
  • Faster, easier training

“We also use the PakTyer 2000 to bundle thouands and thousands of pounds of other laundry as well,” reports Matt, “It’s super easy to train people on how to use the machine, as well as restring it when needed.”

With Felins’ PakTyer 2000, they’ve cut costs, saved time, and dramatically reduced single-use materials where possible – all while delivering a professional product their customers love.

SaniClean ICT has proven that a local, family-owned business can make a big difference in their community by choosing packaging machinery that fits not only their laundry processes, but also their company’s core values. Their emphasis on sustainability resonates with their clients – studies show that companies adopting sustainable practices experience up to a 15% boost in customer loyalty, and as many as 67% of consumers say they would switch to a brand that demonstrates stronger environmental responsibility.

In the end, SaniClean’s story shows that sustainability isn’t just good for the planet — it’s good for people. By aligning their operations with their values, they’ve built trust, strengthened customer relationships, and proven that even small steps can inspire loyalty and lasting impact.
